i have heard that airlines take a sum of money as security deposit at the time of recruitment for cabin crew. am i correct ? please reply. thank you.

I worked for two major carriers and flew all the time and knew dozens of cabins crew members and never once heard of such a thing. I can’t believe that the flight attendance union would let something like that happen. What is this security deposit used for?
