If so, how. Cell phone, home phone, school, mall. How did it make you feel.

Actually it wasn’t until I walked in their door. May 1963. I enlisted. Reason. I am Jewish and if I had been born in 1943 in Europe I would have been sent to a concentration camp. I believe that if you have an obligation to serve your country (there are moral reasons not to of course) though it does not have to be in the military.
Freedom isn’t free.
Military recruiters are one thing “salesmen” and thats it! They have a job to do to “pitch” what they have to offer you. Just like any high pressure salesman does. You dont have to buy his product or services no one forces you to do so!! So i wonder if Berkley is going to ban all “high” pressure used car salesmen next since they too can make you buy a clunker.?
I was recruited my junior year of high school when I walked in and asked “how do I sign up for the Corp?”.
OOO RAH
I’ve been out of High School for almost 5 years now and I still get recruiters calling, writing, showing up at my parents house, fed exing applications to me. Although I would have loved to have joined the military my situation after graduation did not allow me to. I have told them all that I am not interested but they are still very persistent, especially the marines. I didnt mind so much back in the day but it has gotten old now after 5 years. I am married, have a full time job and own my own home so joining the military is not really an option at this point.
Thank you to those of you who have served or currently are serving.
The Navy called me up on my house phone and tried to recruit me….didn’t join since I was already in the AF.
The AF didn’t recruit me I contacted them.
Note: Anytime a student in high school takes the ASVAB test and scores high enough to be qualified a Recruiter can pull their information from the school (perfectly legal) and contact that student.
Yes and successfully. I actually had the pleasure of recruiting as well when I was on hometown recruiting duty. The recruiters had a database from all the schools that had phone numbers and addresses. They actually sent me to the places that they didn’t want to go to. I actually went to this house way out in the country to talk to someone, well it was interesting because the house had all sorts of American Flags around and I was thinking, “This can’t be too bad.” Boy was I wrong. Soon as I showed up to the door I was greeted by a young man who was holding two gi-norumous dogs. He simply said in a country accent…”Git off ma property”. LOL The only thing better was recruiting at the county fair where the Carnies asked “How many felonies can I have and still join?”
They did not try to recruit me, I went to them. I was bored at a school dance my junior year in high school and walked 3 miles to the recruiting station. Of course they were closed but I left my name and phone number on their door. The next day they called, came to my house and I signed me up. At that age though my parents had to sign also.
I have 3 brothers and none of them were recruited either. They all went down to join too.
I went down my senior year intent on joining the air force but decided the army was better. I first thought that I couldn’t join because of a medical problem but they worked it out for me.
Now I’m training to be a drill sergeant :^)
And I love recruiting…repping for the army is my favourite thing to do. Period :^)
If by “tried” you mean put a poster up, and a junior walked into their office and said “I want to join the Army”, then yes.
Best decision I’ve ever made. I couldn’t go anywhere in my life without it.
Yup. And he did his job!
Yes. The Marine Corps tried to recruit me after I asked for more information (in high school). I got a few calls after high school, but couldn’t join at the time. In college, I asked for more information on the Marine Corps officer program and got called up. I’m a Candidate now.
How did it make me feel? I felt like I was getting the information I asked for. Although there was a little mix-up with regular recruiters calling me after I had already contracted at my OSS, that problem was fixed by my OSA.
