Question by South Jersey: How could i covince my recruiter to let me go to MEPS with, with out taking the practice asvab?
Every time i go to the army recruiting station they give me this practice test with 50 question are something. When i take it i end up get a low score like a 17 are some shit.

I can pass the real asvab,i know i can i mean come on who doesn’t get 31 questions right on a 200 question test.

How should i convince him?

Recruiters have been doing their job for a long time and they know the rules better than you do. So if he says you need to take the practice test, then you take the practice test. He isn’t going to waste his time driving you to MEPS just so you can not pass the ASVAB.

you cant go to meps without taking the asvab.
the asvab is to help you get your mos!

trust your recruiter if they keep telling you to take the practice test then do it and actually take your time! they might be seeing if you really are serious bout joining!

    Boy Genius…

It’s not 31 questions out of 200. It’s scoring at/above the 31st percentile. This means you must score better than 30% of the people who take the test.

If you are getting a 17 on the practice test, you are scoring better than 16% of the people who take the test. In other words, 83% of the people who take the test do better than you.

There is absolutely no reason not to use the short practice test to prepare for the real thing. And a recruiter will not take you to the real ASVAB until you’re scoring high enough on the pretest, because to do so would be a huge waste of money, time and resources.

Also, if you fail the real ASVAB, you have to wait another month before retesting. Do this twice and it’s a 6 month wait period.

Keep in mind that 31 just gets you into the Army. It doesn’t qualify you for most jobs in the Army. If you want to be able to choose an MOS that you like, then you need to score high enough to qualify for it.

    Study, study, study.

umm that’s not how it works. the practice ASVAB is a pretty good indicator of how well you will do on the real test. if you cannot pass the practice one, there is no way in hell you qualify on the real one.

its expensive to send peopel to MEPS and they will not waste time and money on someone who clearly cannot pass it.

get a study guide and USE IT.
