You may say that the idea of reduced violence from gun restriction is naive, or that police will repress citizens or that criminals will gain power or that the american people will rather fight to the death rather than improve the safety of their lives BUT YET AGAIN I must point out that in countries (especially in the EU) there IS reduced crime, police DO NOT opress citizens, criminals DO NOT rule the streets, and their citizens ARE safer in those countries. Plus, many who have no capacity for violence seem to think taking guns away from law abiding citizens will reduce violence. Although this utopian view of the world may lead to more happiness, this is very naive, as these people are sitting ducks and easy marks. Further, American citizens, as well as many military and police, will not allow themselves to be disarmed. So by attempting to disarm the populace, you would be instigating blood letting that would rival the civil war.

Gun ownership is about an individuals right to protect him/her self and family. If that is taken away, then the balance of power would shift to criminals and cops only. This would mean that the criminals would know they outgun homes they want to invade, and home owners would be dependent on possibly long response times to protect themselves. Further, cops gaining that kind of advantage over the population would result in tyranny.

I’ll need some time to dig up the statistics again. I won’t bother with a third party commercial site. I did some research 4 years ago for a sociology class (pissed off the professor really good too). It was funny watching the very same professor struggle unsuccessfully to change a tire on his Volvo. Off the top of my head, Illinois and Indiana have some of the strictest gun laws and some of the highest crime rates. Try going to crime statistic lab sites run by actual law enforcement agencies.

I am christian and have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. From my experience there are many great mulsims out there. This guy is a lunatic- nothing more nothing less.
