That’s just standards for recruiting. The buck doesn’t quite stop there. There’s more standards you must meet for completing basic training and qualifying for apprentice-level of your MOS, and Journeyman-level after that.

Retention is a whole another ballgame. That’s where you have to appease your superiors and game the system, but that’s a discussion for another day.

HAHA I got a 96 on my asvab…I got two assault 4 misdemeanors from back when i was younger. All of them were simply self defense. Now HOLD UP what did i just say…ASSAULT, SELF DEFENSE…Aint that what the military does in the first place??? On top of that i tried the marines…i dont want to run a damn spaceship i just want to be a ground troop. Im starting to think this war isnt that damn important. So what about money…if i could do it for free i would. But i wasnt accepted sadly.

@plasticine86 There is a set amount of money that the DOD gets to fund our military. Right now lots of people are trying to get in and few are getting out so we are running out of room for new recruits. So the DOD gets to be picky about who they let in and who gets to stay in. Some states have had to stop recruiting all together while some have put enlistment caps on how many each recruiting station can put in. Once they reach that number they have to stop.

The military is like the last chance for anyone, and if they get to picky about who can die, then we’re not going to have a big military for sure. I got a 72 on my ASVAB but went to a homestudy school which is considered a tier 2 by the military, so I had to get a waiver requested and it was denied. Now I have to either get another diploma, or get 15 college credits just to be ‘qualified’ to join the military.

You had a bad recruiter but I bet he’d take you in a minute now! I took the practice test and got a 86, and now they are calling me like crazy, I told them not now but i am still considering. Try again, you’ll make it!
