There have been a lot of Military FPS games that come out, and i’m wondering: Is it their objective to recruit people to the military by this method?

    Secretly LOL.

They do it quite openly and it’s not a bad game actually.

I think a lot of it is for instructional purposes, because the military is interested in using advanced technology to simulate combat situations. It’s very intriguing.

I think thats kinda the idea. When call of duty 2, modern warfare. came out, there was local army recruiters at gamestop, with there hummers and stuff, talkin to peeps buyin the game.

There is a game (“Americas Army” I think), that was developed by the US Government for the sole purpose of recruiting, but a majority of games are developed by private companies. Now if you want to get all conspiracy theory on us I guess it is possible that the government secretly pays these companies, but I highly doubt that. That would be equivalent to saying that every movie company gets payed for the war movies they make.

it may be training but not recruiting…in the army, they don’t use a mouse, crack using a trainer or gain high score for headshots…not plausible….

Very unlikely. Nine times out of ten, the developers don’t even know anybody in the military and only hire a military adviser so it’s not completely inaccurate (although they’ll usually keep some of the suggestions and throw out the rest out of the interest of making the game “cooler”). Most people who play war games don’t instantly want to join based on it and a few people who decide to join based on games end up washing out of training anyway when they find out it’s not as fun as the game makes it look. Most people who join the Army join either out of a sense of duty, benefits, or just something to do after graduation.
