Only take what you are required to have because everything else will be mailed back home or destroyed. Eyeglasses, Prescription medications, and your wallet with identification are about the only things you will be allowed to keep.
As far as what to say? Say, Yes sir and no sir all the time and do exactly a they tell you to do unless it is against your civil rights or ethics
What do you think? Answer below!

Initially, you only need your ID and birth certificate at the recruiter station. If you need anything else the recruiter will let you know.
just walk away bro
Say “hello sir, I want to serve my nation every day”
Then give him your best attempt at a pathetic civilian salute.
You’re talking your first trip to a recruiter? Just bring government photo ID, like a driver’s license. They will eventually want to see your social security card, high school diploma or transcripts, and any pertinent medical records, to ascertain whether you are qualified to enlist. But for now, just take your ID card, maybe a list of questions if you have any yet, and tell them you want to learn more about the Army Reserve.
And don’t mind that first poster. The Army works a little differently, when you get to Basic Training, your civilian gear is stored for you (as long as it’s not contraband, like porn or alcohol), and you get it back at graduation. Just don’t bring more than a few changes of clothes and maybe a book or cheap hand held game and your cell phone and charger, because whatever you get back, you will have to stuff into your military duffle bag along with all the military gear you were issued, and you will have to carry it through various airports and bus terminals. Not tons of room there. If your follow on training is longer than a few weeks, your family can send your computer and game stations and more civilian clothes and so forth once you’re further on in training and have fewer restrictions.
