Who do you think you are? Erudite?
Recruiters are actually experiencing glory years these days, and that with a shooting war going on. I would LOVE to see the data on this baseless claim you’ve made.

The military makes a lot of promises so the young men and women join up and then learn they have been lied to about how great the military life is.
I haven’t heard of a single one commiting suicide…facts?
When I was a recruiter my Station Commander was an ASS, he did not follow regulations or obey the orders of his superiors, he got away with this because we (the recruiters made mission each month) so according to higher he was doing “His job well”. Recruiting is (or at least was) f–d up, you worked near 80 hours a week even if you made quota on day one and all it took to go from hero to zero was one bad month, I saw guys that consistently surpassed quota month after month drug through the dirt for having a single bad month.
It was fun to figure out the many different things they used to punish people and take that away from them, as an example, I was punished for a bad month and “Forced” to drive the old mini van, the next month when I passed quota the 1SG called and told me to give the van to another recruiter, I asked why and stated I liked the van, granted he was not trying to punish me, he was trying to punish the other guy, but he lost that little power or control at that point and I cannot say it bothered me in the least.
