People support us, they just dont want to be us. They do not posses the intestinal fortitude to do what we do every day. Plus, I doubt you find many of those stickers on the college students who fall into the target age group of recruiters. Usually it is on the vehicles of people who experienced another war from another time. Because they have experienced something similiar to us.

You can blame the president for that. Thousands of soldiers are getting their service time forcefully extended and no one wants to be in Iraq. The part that your not getting is when someone says “I support the troops” they’re supporting the soldiers but not the cause.

Because it is all well and good when they are talking about someone else’s child. Too many people I talk to now tell me that they are proud of the men and women in uniform, but they flip out if their child mentions it to them. I think it is a perfectly natural way to feel about your own child. Nobody wants to think of their kid going off to war and putting their life in danger. However, it can be just as dangerous walking down the street here in the states!

maybe those cars you are seeing that have support are troops stickers or magnets on them have a family memeber of friend in the service.maybe they were once in the military.i have a support are troops magnet on my car becasue my husband is in the service,i probably would anyways becasue i have alot of family memebers in service

People have no time for such a thing as a war to fight and our youth are cowards or busy going to school? sad when that war comes to our home land it will be interesting who will fight and who will not?

Well you F&(*%#$ idiot. No good parent wants to send their son or daughter into a situation where they might be killed. Doesn’t mean they can’t support the war. Just like you can sit here and bad mouth it all you want, and you don’t have to do anything but collect welfare. Besides at 18 and 19 it is up to them to decide what they want to do. Why don’t you serve your country in some manner instead of asking others to serve for you. You don’t like the war then volunteer at an old folks home, or a homeless shelter.

Almost as baffling as why re-enlistment rates are as high as they are in an all volunteer army that is five years in to a shooting war.

Well I will try to answer both of your questions.

One, no long lines because the recruiter is going to that new recruits house or school or even job. The recruiter will travel to see you where you are at. Because that is part of his or her job.

Two, I love my husband. I love the life we have together with our children. My husband is currently fighting in Iraq right now for his 3rd time. I am proud of him and I can’t imagine being anything than an army spouse. We have been separated 6 1/2 months and still have 8 1/2 more to go. The military has its up and downs and sometimes the downs last longer than the ups. But I love him.
Now do I want my daughters to join the military, HELL NO. Why because I am a parent. I worry for them (just like I do my husband). Do I want them to live this type of life, no I don’t. But then agian, I would support their decision with whatever they make. If they joined the military I would still love them, still worry about them and of course still support them. Sometimes as parents we think of our children first. But then we support them no matter what.

arm chair patriots that tell more stories then Walt Disney. they are sheep and serve a purpose, these arm chair patriots are counted on to parrot the official line, and will without realizing it, be the front line to usher in fascism.

Because many people support the troops they just don’t want to be one.
Many can say they are patriotic through support but none will really make the sacrifice to join. So in a way its kinda hypocritical of them.
But the no lines, well its not like you can go in and just join. There is much more than that. Background checks and stuff, its not instant you get signed up. So that is part of the reason for no lines.

Ahh Erudite, The lovable old coot screaming about things he doesn’t understand. I’ve had some time to make a composite of your life:
You served a couple years in the military, “in the rear with the gear” as the grunts call it. As a result you think that gives you precedence to insult, dishonor, and generally badmouth the military.
You got out of the military and moved on to some DoD desk job, retired and now have nothing better to do than piss off people on the internet (but why not? that’s what the internets for).
I bet you wonder why the kids and grandkids don’t visit? Or why your wife divorced you?
Why aren’t there lines at the recruiting station? You know the answer; I don’t think this website was meant to spread propaganda, so do the fine folks at Yahoo! answers a favor and stop the hate.
