Question by Johnny C: What does a recruiter get from a company for hiring you?
I have ten years experience in the engineering industry. A recruiter help give me an opportunity to land a good job at a reputable company. I even recieved a sign on bonus. She keep calling me and asking how is everything every week. She said she even called my engineering department and talked to my supervisor. After being there only two weeks, she indicated that they are very satisfied with my work, but to me that is to be expected. What is her deal and how is she getting paid? Does she get paid the same time I get paid or what? If you know anything about the recruiting stage, please enlighten me.
By the way, I am in a permanent position. My benefits (i.e. insurance) doesnt start until 30 days after employment.

Many recruiters will get paid a portion of their fee upon your agreement to work for the company then again 3 or 6 months down the road.

Perhaps she wants to make sure you’re happy so that she will receive her commission.
