When and how should I start talking to my local Marines Recruiter?

Question by Joe: When and how should I start talking to my local Marines Recruiter?
I am only 15. I really truly just want some reading material for another year. My recruiter is in my town, which is small but I don’t have a way to get to him because my parents don’t want me to, so I feel bad to ask for him to mail me something. I have his phone number. Should I ask for his e-mail?

Finding a local army national guard recruiting office?

Question by ponygirl0701: Finding a local army national guard recruiting office?
I’ve been doing research on the army national guard lately, and i have come to realize, i cant find any way to find my nearest recruiting office. there is a near-by army, marine, and navy office in my mall, but is talking to a regular army recruiter the same as talking to an army national guard recruiter? if not, how can i locate an office near me?

The regular Army recruiter can’t put you into the National Guard, they can only put you in the Active Army or the Army Reserve.

What you can do, is talk to the active recruiter and see where you are in terms of what you may want to do. The Reserves and National Guard are pretty similar, except the NG may have extra state benefits the Reserves don’t have. Active Duty is full time and gives the most benefits.

If you call the National Guard’s 800 number they should be able to tell you where the nearest NG office is.
