Man, I would think it would be easy to sign up recruits in NYC. From what I understand, most New Yorkers stay in NY their whole lives. Why would you not want a chance to get out and see what the rest of the world has to offer? And like my man said, alot of people stay in the projects and say how they wish they could get out. It is a little harder to join right now. Here at Ft. Campbell, I went in with someone to make sure he doesn’t sign anything without reading. Wait time for the Marines is 8months. Air Force and Navy were both almost a year. The fastest was the Army but even that was at least 4-5months. The fastest ship times they had was for 18X and I told my boy don’t sign that thing unless he’s sure that’s what he wants to do. Otherwise he’s gonna be in for hell on earth.

Nobody, and I mean absolutely nobody I know or have asked has any interest in joining. Whenever I am on any campus where recruiters are visiting, I rarely see anyone walking up to the table to talk to the men. The recruiters keep trying but the students refuse to go near them.

What if a group of Hollywood producers set up a table where they were recruiting students to become movie and television actors? How about dancers and models, too? Hell, the line at the table would be so long!

I think for many the point is that the Army should not be recruiting at schools at all.

Young people are more easily influenced & for many this is not ethical. Bearing in mind that this is a job where one can come home in a coffin, or be seriously injured for the rest of your life, both physically & emotionally.

I have every respect for our military & many would tell you that they feel cheated & conned into fighting. Not for freedom & democracy but to make money for the rich elite.

I’ve been in the military myself & the guy who recruited me gave me excellent advice & pointed me in the right direction. I still remember him today & am grateful.

I would not want my children to join, having seen that ordinary people are used & die to line the pockets of the elite class who don’t give a fig for those they regard as nothing more than animals.
