Kalash & Muslim community male female protested against kidnapping of
Athanasee Laironaise Greek Citizen.

CHITRAL: A large number of male and female from Kalash community as
well as Muslims hold protest rally, procession carrying banners and
placards inscribing the message against state terrorism in Kalash
valley demanding for recovery of Greek social workers Athanasee
Laironaise. The protest rally gathered at Ataleeq square where it
converted into a public meeting. The rally was leading by Rahmat Elahi
Nazim Union Council Ayun, Sartaj Ahmad Khan Tehsil Nazim Chitral,
Wazir Zada Chairperson Human Rights Monitoring committee Kalash
valley. The protest rally passing through various roads came to
District Coordination Officer and District Nazim office. Where they
set in as protest in front of DCO office. Hence DCO Chitral Mutasim
Billah Shah, District Nazim Maghfirat Shah, Tehsil Nazim Sartaj Ahmad
Khan joined them and assured of their fully cooperation. Elites and
leaders of Kalash community delivered speeches to public meeting and
strongly condemned negligence of security forces and law enforcement
agencies. They said that Athanasee Laironaise, was kidnapped by some
criminal persons and was shifted to Nooristan area of Afghanistan
easily but there was no reaction against dacoits. They demanded early
recover of abducted Athanasee Laironaise, within 3 days otherwise they
will taken stern action as well as also to leave Chitral and migrate
to some other place and abroad. They demanded for recruitment of
Kalash people in border police as well as in Chitral police and scouts
to be deployed on that borders where infiltration is expected.

They also demanded for sealing of borders with Afghanistan immediately
to stop further kidnapping of innocent people. They said that
Athanasee Laironaise, was benefactor of not only Kalash people but the
whole Chitral who spent million of rupees for benefit of these people.
They also criticized role of police and security guard on security
duty of Athanasee Laironaise, who could not protect him from
kidnapping and disciplary action sought against police staff. District
and Tehsil Nazim assured them if your genuine demand was not fulfilled
we also joined your agitation until fulfillment of your demand. DCO
Chitral satisfied them that Federal Provincial and district government
as well district administration was very much shocked on this
sorrowfull tragedy and we are trying of our best to recover Athanasee
Laironaise safely. The protest rally was also leaded by Rehmat Elahi,
Sartaj Ahmad Khan, Nizar Wali Shah president of Chitral Culture
Ortanization United Arab Emirates. Those who spoke on the occasion
were Wazir Zada, Bahram Shah, Unat Baig, Bashara Khan from Kalash
community and a number of leaders from Muslim community also spoke on
the occasion to expressed their solidarity with Kalash brethren. It is
worth to mention here that a large number of women folk from Kalash
community participated in protest rally and public meeting for first
time in the history of Chitral. Later on Tehsil Nazim arranged for
refreshment of Kalash people and the protest gathering was disbursed
peacefully.
