Question by Average College Student: Why did Kagan ban the Military from recruiting at Harvard?
I thought she was a hero when she blocked troops from propagandizing students. She should stand up for peace and be proud of what she accomplished there. The republicans will try and make this an issue but she did the right thing. Its a PRIVATE college, not a recruiting station like downtown.

She never banned mitlitary recruiting on campus.
As Dean, she was adhering to the long-standing Harvard non-discrimination policy, which said that no employer could use the office of career services if that employer would not sign a non-discrimination pledge.
The military could not sign that pledge (since they discriminate against gays), so they were forbidden on the campus.
The only reason Harvard relented was they were threatened with loss of federal funds if they didn’t allow the military on campus.
So it wasn’t her personal opinion, it was her job.

Because of the Military policy on Homosexuals “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” Policy which would “likely” exclude her from Enlisting or Accepting a Commission. She couldn’t become a JAG officer.. Her sexual orientation is the 800 pound gorilla in the room, everyone KNOWS, but no one will say it!!
She banned the Military from recruiting at Harvard because she objected to the No Tell No Ask policy of the armed services.
You people are despicable. True Americans honor their fellow citizens that take up arms to defend them and die for their nation. Kagan blocked recruitment because like all good leftists she despises the military. Of course today we really can’t expect much from college professors or students (your a prime example), and as for “propagandizing students” your avatar says it all.
